About CFgears

My name is Eric Cobb and CFgears.com is my personal little corner of the web. I currently reside in Nashville, TN with my wonderful wife and two children.

Since 1999, I've been working in the technology industry primarily as a web developer. I say primarily because I've also had to fill the roles of server admin, tech support, and even a makeshift DBA at various points of my career.

Throughout my web development career, ColdFusion has always been my weapon of choice. When it comes to rapid application development there's nothing better for me, and I think it's one of the best web application platforms out there! I've been using ColdFusion since version 4.0., and I'm currently a Certified Macromedia ColdFusion MX 7 Developer (but I'm studying to take my CF 8 certification exam soon). I, along with J.J. Merrick, also manage the Nashville ColdFusion User Group.

Since I got involved with this crazy thing called the Internet I've had several interesting gigs. Over the years I've worked in a variety of industries, including a concrete supplier, a medical research facility, a development and hosting shop, and even started my own business as a freelance developer.

As a freelance developer, I have had the opportunity to work with several outstanding clients, including a Fortune 100 company, an online banking and money order processing system, and one of the largest and fastest growing power co-ops in the country.

While I make every attempt to post only technical things on this blog, occasionally I may be forced to break out into a personal rant. I'll apologize now for anyone I may offend, 'cuz it's probably going to happen.
